„Detal Dzisiaj” is a periodical targeted at every store owner or manager. The magazine reflects the current situation of retail trade in Poland and raises issues that individuals managing a retail outlet deal with on a daily basis. By providing information on events that may be of interest to the retail environment and impacting the companies they manage, we endeavor for the substantiative content to be both practical and useful. „Detal Dzisiaj” includes information on advertising campaigns that provide the best support for sales of products, price comparisons and availability of products in various parts of Poland, information on new products and promotions. The website contains updated information on over 350 of the largest retail chains operating in our country (including addresses, telephone numbers, names of executives, photographs of stores). CONTESTS, OTHER ACTIVITIES
„ Merchandise of the Year” The „ Merchandise of the Year” title is presented every year to our Readers and the broader business environment of the retail sector in Poland. It is awarded to brand-name products that sold best in stores and brought the largest profits during the calendar year. The concept behind this contest is to distinguish products/brands that are valued by retailers themselves. Thanks to their recommendations, a list of products is created that are definitely worth selling. The „ Merchandise of the Year” title is awarded to 10 products/brands that received the largest number of votes from retailers throughout Poland, representing various sales formats, polled by a respected research Institute. A manufacturer whose product is selected as „ Merchandise of the Year” receives the right to utilize the graphical mark of the context in its marketing and advertising activities. Retailers that sell products/brands distinguished as „ Merchandise of the Year” can be certain of their enhanced profit potential.
„ Distribution Leader” and „Category Stock Master” Two Store Check type research projects are conducted in a continuous manner, with results published in each issue of “Detal Dzisiaj” and “Detal Dzisiaj”.
„Distribution Leader” – the purpose of this research is to establish the availability of a basket of 10 different product categories on a respective day throughout Poland. We focus on products that are supported by ongoing advertising and promotional campaigns or those that are worth including in the comparison during the specific periods. The company whose product receives the Distribution Leader award is authorized to use its logo in advertising of the winning product and its promotional materials.
„Category Stock Master” is research on the presence of products from a respective category on shelves and their prices. The product that achieves the best result in distribution among other products in its category is designated as the Category Stock Master. Selection of products for the research takes place on the basis of their market share and level of advertising/promotional activity, pertaining to the product. On an annual basis, the subject of the research covers the 21 largest FMCG categories. Both the „Distribution Leader” and the „Category Stock Master” are commissioned by Trade Press and conducted by Nielsen in stores that are part of the panel of retail stores, monitored by Nielsen.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The high substantiative content level of publications in „Detal Dzisiaj” and „Detal Dzisiaj Network” and the knowledge of individuals responsible for their creation are utilized by other media, such as “Polityka”, “Newsweek”, “Wprost”, “Życie Warszawy”, TVN24, Telewizja Biznes. The chief editors of „Detal Dzisiaj” and „Detal Dzisiaj Network” appear as experts, commenting on the most important events in the FMCG sales industry. Respected international companies rely on studies, prepared by the editors of these publications. One example is a report prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers, focusing on the retail sector in Poland and in other countries „ From Sao Paulo to Shanghai”, where the sole source of information in the category of industry periodicals was Trade Press – the publishers of "Detal Dzisiaj” and „Detal Dzisiaj Network") Time and time again, the work of „Detal Dzisiaj” editors has been highly evaluated, as evidenced by diplomas of recognition, awarded by one of the largest retail chains in Poland, where the editorial staff receives thanks for supporting small and medium entrepreneurship and for accurate and objective reporting. The Chief Editor of „Detal Dzisiaj” was distinguished by the Industrial- Commercial Congregation with the title "Journalist of the Year" for "excellent and impartial presentation of the views of all merchant and manufacturer organizations in „Detal Dzisiaj” and for effective presentation of HACCP good practices in the food industry". The Chief Editor of „Detal Dzisiaj” was also the laureate of the Gold Honor Badge of the „ Health Promotion” Foundation for encouraging and store owners to commercially utilize the „ Eat vegetables and fruits 5 x each day”. The Italian-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognized him for promoting sales of products in retail establishments, comprising the so-called „ Mediterranean diet”. Editorial representatives are also present at the most important industry events, such as congresses, conferences and courses, where they frequently serve as discussion leaders and moderators.

INDUSTRY COOPERATION
“Makro Magazine for shopkeepers” This is a magazine targeted at the best Makro Cash & Carry Polska customers (the so-called Golden Customers) – shopkeepers who take their stock from Makro. The magazine comes out every two months and provides information including: openings of new trade halls, promotions, new products, it contains advice on effective business practices. The articles carried in “MM” can be successfully utilized in shop management, and its regular columns (e.g. merchandising, IT and legal advice, company vehicles) are very useful in competing for customers with other shops.
“Makro Magazine for the HoReCa group” This is a magazine addressed to high volume customers of Makro Cash & Carry Polska – professionally associated with the HoReCa industry, i.e. the owners of hotels, restaurants, bars and catering firms. The quarterly informs among others about openings of new halls, promotions, new products; it contains advice concerning how to develop restaurant businesses that are distinct from the competition. Experts are invited to cooperate, advise, educate and suggest how to cope on a very dynamic market.
MasterCard In cooperation with MasterCard, Trade Press publishes a special supplement entitled „MasterCard® 2008 Master of Trade and Services”, devoted to the most popular retail and service chains. MasterCard Europe initiated the concept of this contest and its partners are: „Detal Dzisiaj”, „Detal Dzisiaj Network”. The supplement is distributed with „Detal Dzisiaj Network” and in cooperation with other business publishers in Poland.
Trade Fairs Trade Press Sp. z o.o. is a very active participant in all sorts of trade fairs and conferences, pertaining to the FMCG market. However, the publisher’s role is not solely limited to being an exhibitor presenting the portfolio of its products, but very frequently - it is the media patron of such events. Due to experience gained in the FMCG market, the editors of our periodicals are frequently invited to give lectures at industry seminars. Research institutes The magazines “Detal Dzisiaj” and “Detal Dzisiaj Network” published by Trade Press and its internet portals are valuable sources of information about the retail market in Poland. They are published in collaboration with renowned research institutes which collect data concerning the market positions of set products and producers, and also the support activities provided for retailers and producers. Thus in every issue of “Detal Dzisiaj” and “Detal Dzisiaj Network” and in our internet portals, one may find market reports whose authors are analysts from the marketing research firms Nielsen and MEMRB. These reports, in the case of “Detal Dzisiaj Network”, are supplemented with company data from Focus Research, which relate to the promotional activities of producers via the newsletters published by the trading networks. Market reports in “Detal Dzisiaj” are supplemented with data from CMR, a firm which presents share values and the co-purchasing power in various categories, and also the average value of transactions as well as the weekly and hourly sales schedules in traditional shops. Market reports in both titles are also illustrated by data from SMG/KRC and GfK Polonia. The most intensive advertising campaigns are presented in each edition of “Detal Dzisiaj”, in cooperation with Expert Monitor and TNS OBOP. Each edition of “Detal Dzisiaj” also presents the turnover ratios regarding food or chemical products in a given distribution channel as prepared by Nielsen, and also comparative figures for shopping centre visitors in Poland, as prepared by the firm FootFall.
Product of the year Trade Press is collaborating in organising the “Product of the Year. The Consumers’ Choice” competition. It is an international marketing programme which comprises two elements: consumer research carried out in Poland by TNS OBOP in which consumers pick the best new products to appear on the FMCG market over the past year, and the title and logo which producers may use in their advertising campaigns and on the packaging of their goods which have won recognition in the survey, and the most attractive ones in their categories. Among the Product of the Year partners as the only trade publication dedicated to retailing there is the fortnightly “Detal Dzisiaj”, and a representative of the editorial board is on the judges panel. The competition’s award winners are also presented in the columns of “Detal Dzisiaj”. The winners are presented by “Detal Dzisiaj” during the Product of the Year gala.
